What is THCa Flower?
THCa, known by the scientific name Tetrahydrocannabinolic acid, is the precursor to THC, which is the primary active compound in cannabis. Therefore, one can easily transform THCa flower into THC. The only requirement for the transformation is a rudimentary catalyst, heat. So, if one burns a THCa joint, lights a bowl full of THCa flower, or bakes THCa into edibles, it becomes potent THC. That means a product that contains 30% THCa is very similar to a product composed of 30% THC. Furthermore, THCa products differ in legal status from THC products because they contain less than 0.3% THC by volume in their raw state. So, THCa products that meet the >0.3% THC qualification are considered hemp products and are legally available for purchase in many more states than THC products.
